Bridgetown celebrated their big one for the season, the Bridgetown Cup as well as the wrap up of their meetings, with another big crowd on course on Sunday, March 24.

Barry Howlett was impressed by his filly Sugar Delight who claimed her maiden win on debut in a dominating display in the first at Albany, a night dedicated in memory of passed members.

It was a weekend for Country Cups in WA, with the Busselton Cup run and won on Friday night, followed by the $20,000 2024 Wellington & Reeves Albany Cup (2690m MS) that went the way of the Barry Howlett trained Lil Happy Fella.

Our Maestoso NZ continued his fabulous form in the trotters’ event at Pinjarra on Monday, making it two in a row for trainer Barry Howlett, driven by Chris Lewis who is edging himself closer to the elusive 6000 driving wins milestone, currently sitting on 5998.

Wednesday, August 30, marked the running of the 2023 $30,000 WASBA WA Country Oaks at Bunbury, with handy filly Flametree taking the feature for Barry Howlett and Mitch Miller.
