Sir Michael Stoute's Snow Sky Has Caulfield Option Before Melbourne Cup Date

Snow Sky is pencilled in for an outing in the Caulfield Cup before his bid for the Melbourne Cup on November 3.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt won the Yorkshire Cup and Hardwicke Stakes before finishing sixth when well fancied for the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah, said: "Snow Sky apparently travelled over very well and is in good shape so far, but we will wait and see how things go over the next few days. The Melbourne Cup is something that we have looked at for a while and it seems sensible to take on the Caulfield Cup if he has a good run into it with no hiccups."

Grimthorpe added: "If he is not tip-top for that then he will have a straight run in the Melbourne Cup, but the intention is to take in the Caulfield Cup first."

Time Test, another high-class Abdullah-owned runner, got back to winning ways at Newmarket last week and has potential options at Ascot on Champions Day, should the ground not be unsuitably soft.

Grimthorpe said: "Time Test has come out of his race well. I don't see why we won't take a peak at Ascot, but the big factor will be the ground as if it looks like being soft, we would avoid it.

"I think having brought him back to a mile the intention is to stick at that, but he does have the option of stepping up."
