Robert Hickmott is no stranger to Adelaide Cup success producing the Lloyd Williams-owned Muir to win the 2011 edition.

And Highland Jakk was given a perfect ride by Teodore Nugent before holding off a fast finishing Stars Of Carrum and a game Grand Promenade, while Peter Hardacre's Sebonna was the pick of the locals finishing fourth.

Highland Jakk is among the 14 early nominations for the Group 2 two mile feature which close with Racing SA on Thursday.

Chris Waller's Chalk Stream is among nominations while fellow New South Wales trainer Matthew Smith has First In Line, Monreal and True Marvel among the entries.

Exciting sprinting filly Philonize returned to racing in her customary fashion running rivals off their feet to record her sixth win from just 10 starts with Ben Price in the saddle.

It was the first leg of a riding double for Price who shared riding honours with Todd Pannell and Teo Nugent who provided former local Michael Shepherdson, the former long-time foreman for Tony and Calvin McEvoy, with a Morphettville victory in the last when Nicajon was successful.

Meanwhile, Sairyn Fawke took riding honours at Lock on Sunday with a treble aboard Sandsation for Mick White, before combining with the Garret Lynch pair of Jamcra and Epaulette Prince in the Lock Cup.
