Santons Of Bendigo Mdn Plate
A pair of promising Darren Weir-trained three-year-olds fought out a close finish here with Minoan Spirit doing well in scoring his first win in four starts. He began well but was eased to settle midfield, between runners, before improving to take a split at the 300m. He hit the front at the 100m and then fought back well to score in a photo. His stablemate New Horizons, a son of Frankel (Galileo), was having his second race start and settled beyond midfield before tracking up three wide with cover from the 800m. He challenged at the 100m and then battled on gamely for a close second, staging a promising effort.
