Godolphin’s Sparsholt, from the Anthony Freedman stable, resumed after two unplaced runs as a two-year-old to score a promising first-up win. He settled in an ideal position, fourth, following a good tempo set by a trio of leaders. He switched deep at the turn, got to the lead at the 100m and then drew away to score by a length and a half, looking suited to further. The filly Kap It Off shared the lead on the rails, was pressured in front to the turn and did quite well to hold on for second. *ANZ
