Six-time Grade 1 winning champion has produced six Grade 1 winners from his first 3 crops
The Three Chimneys-based Horse of the Year and champion sire Gun Runner will be offered to breeders on Southern Hemisphere time this year.
The six-time Grade 1 winner has three crops of racing age in the Northern Hemisphere and he has, to date, sired six Grade 1 winners including Classic winner Early Voting, who is from his first crop. His other Grade 1 winners include champion two-year-old filly and Breeders' Cup winner Echo Zulu, Gunite, Cyberknife, Taiba and Society.
Gun Runner's first crops have proved popular in the sales ring, with a $2.3 million sale topper at last year's Fasig-Tipton Select Yearling Sale in Saratoga.
"We have had heavy interest from farms and breeders in Australia and have already seen some great mares visit him in his first southern hemisphere crop, including Golden Slipper winner Estijaab," said Doug Cauthen, vice-chairman of Three Chimneys' board of directors.
"Being free of Danehill is something we have heard a lot from Australian breeders."
Three Chimneys is offering a A$500,000 bonus if any offspring from his first southern hemisphere crop or this year's crop win the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).
"We figured this would be a fun bonus and a possible one as well, as Slipper winner Estijaab herself is in foal to Gun Runner," said Rebecca Nicholson, director of stallion nominations.
