Redoute's Choice Setting The Pace

3 minute read

Arrowfield Stud's champion sire Redoute's Choice maintained his early season momentum with four winners around Australia on Saturday led by a Rosehill double by the Chris Waller-trained stablemates Altius and The Warrior Woman.

Redoute's Choice has mader a great start to the new season, his tally of winners for the first 13 days in Australia already up to 15, with prizemoney already more than $300,000.

His classy 4YO Altius (ex Circles of Gold by Marscay) made it two wins in succession when he scored handsomely over 1500 metres at Rosehill, taking his record to four wins from nine starts.

Waller indicated that he is now thinking of the G1 Epsom Handicap in October as a possible target for the imposing half brother to top G1 winners and sires Elvstroem and Haradasun.

Also at Rosehill the 5YO mare The Warrior Woman (ex Mulan Princess by Kaapstad) posted her fifth win for the Waller stable.

Like Redoute's Choice, Arrowfield trainer Paul Messara has also made a great start to the 2011/12 season and that success continued with Gold Coast winner Lemieux (ex French Cut by Snippets).

It was his third consecutive win and concluded a particularly good week for his part-owner Jonathan Munz, also the breeder and co-owner of Wednesday's impressive Redoute's Choice debut winner Rekindled Alliance.

* AT CAULFIELD Satin Shoes became the first stakeswinner of the new season for another champion Arrowfield sire Flying Spur with her game victory in the $100,000 Quezette Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Trainer Clarry Conners' decision to send the classy 3YO filly to Melbourne early in the season paid off when she held on to win the Listed race by a short half head.

Satin Shoes won the G2 Silver Slipper Stakes and Listed Widden Stakes as a 2YO and has now won four of her six career starts for prizemoney of $405,150.

Flying Spur is a permanent fixture among Australia's leading sires, with nine stakeswinners worldwide last season and a lifetime record of 7.3% stakeswinners to runners.

He is standing the 2011 season at Arrowfield Stud on a fee of $49,500.
