International Buyers Pick The Cream From Patinack

The four-year-old, by Fastnet Rock from the Peintre Celebre mare Artistique, won last year's G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and G3 Silver Shadow Stakes.

Patinack Farm principal Nathan Tinkler, who paid $130,000 for Nechita at the Magic Millions yearling sale in 2011, is dispersing his massive bloodstock holdings due to the financial strain on his businesses.

He is selling more than 300 horses at the Gold Coast National Sale series with today's offering of his select broodmare band commanding most attention.

Other high class fillies and mares sold by Patinack Farm on Wednesday included Group performers Pear Tart, Longport and Pane In The Glass and the promising Sookie, winner of last Saturday's G3 Glenlogan Park Stud Stakes at Doomben.

Tom Magnier confirmed that Nechita will be retired immediately to Coolmore Stud in NSW to begin her breeding career in the spring.

“She is a very talented daughter of Fastnet Rock and is a lovely looking mare. We are very lucky to have her,” said Magnier.

“The plan is that she will either go to Pierro or we may take her home to Ireland and send her to Galileo.".

Nechita is the second big mare purchase by Coolmore this year after securing multiple G1 winner Sea Siren in April in a private deal for $2 million. Sea Siren is to race at Royal Ascot in the Ukl next month before she goes to Colmore Stud in Ireland to be served by Galileo to southern hemisphere time.

Patinack's other seven figure sale of the day was the Sadler's Wells mare Endless, purchased by Time Stakemire acting for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum for $1.050,000.

Endless, offered in foal to Husson, is a daughter of the acclaimed Rainbow Quest mare Rainbow Lake, dam of seven winners including G1 winner Powerscourt and Kind, the dam of world champion Frankel.

“I do not think that mares with that pedigree come onto the market every day of the week and I am not sure what we will do yet," said Stakemire.

"I will speak with Sheikh Mohammed as she might be sent to the northern hemisphere. I am not sure what we will do with her."

Queensland trainer Danny Bougoure paid $800,000 for G2 Tea Rose Stakes winner and GI placed filly Longport while bloodstock agent James Herron signed for Sookie, a Patinack homebred filly by Casino Prince out of the Encosta de Lago mare Purple Blood, for $700,000.

A grand-daughter of multiple G1 winner Victory Vein, she was purchased for a Sydney client and is to join the Gai Waterhouse stable for more racing next season before she goes to stud.

UK agent Adrian Nicoll secured Pear Tart, by Dehere out of the Sadler’s Wells mare Tangerine Dream, for $675,000. She will be joining the broodmare band owned by Maria Niarchos-Gouazé, a member of the famous European racing family.

Pear Tart, a six times winner including the G1 Tattersall’s Tiara at Eagle Farm, is a grand daughter of the Niarchos-owned Raisonnable, a stakes winner in France.

“Pear Tart has been bought by the Niarchos family in France in partnership with Coolmore and stays in Australia," Nicoll said.

"They have never had mares in Australia before so this is their first venture,” said Nicoll.

“She is likely to go to Pierro next year and then Fastnet Rock.

“Maria Niarchos has always been very interested in doing something in Australia and she knew this family very well so it was a no brainer when they saw this mare in the catalogue.

“They have been in partnership with Coolmore before."

Scone's Newgate Farm secured Pane In The Glass, by Testa Rossa out of the Bluebird mare Lyrics, for $500,000 on behalf of SF Bloodstock which is owned by Gavin Murphy, an Australian hedge fund businessman based in New York who has significant interests in bloodstock.

Coolmore also purchased Frustrating, a Stravinsky mare out of the Gold Brose mare Parfore, for $450,000. Frustrating, a two times winner, is a half-sister to G3 winner Tiger Tees and Singapore G1 winner Super Easy.

Another 75 Patinack mares are catalogued for sale on Thursday and Friday before more than 350 Tinkler-owned yearlings and racehorses are offered when the National Sale sessions continue next week.
