Queensland-based sire Captain Sonador has died following a paddock accident.

The G1-winning son of Shamardal was euthanased at Raheen Stud.

The Epsom Handicap winner was in his yard as part of his normal routine when he reared and landed awkwardly, snapping a back leg.

Captain Sonador was also placed in the G1 Randwick Guineas and G2 Hobartville Stakes.

He had been at stud for three seasons.
