Catch A Wave is back home in Victoria after a stunning raid in the west, and connections are planning a return sooner than many would have expected.

The superstar pacer won the Group 1 double - The Nullarbor slot race and Fremantle Cup - at Gloucester Park through April, and plans are in place to take him back for the elite-level WA Pacing Cup in early November.

Trainer Andy Gath told TrotsVision.com.au on Saturday night that he would skip the Inter Dominion carnival in New South Wales with Catch A Wave and opt for a return to Western Australia instead.

"It's a place a lot of people don't travel to because we know how hard it is," he said.

"It's virtually like going to a different country – the racing's completely different, it's a flat half-mile track, there's very aggressive drivers who push you out anytime they want and drive at a pretty fast tempo.

"The WA Cup is about three weeks before the Inter Dominion and we'll probably bypass the Inter Dominion."

Catch A Wave's latest heroics took his winnings past $1.9million, with 22 victories from 38 starts.
