Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

(5) SEOBU CHAMP comes in off a 3rd place over this distance on March 16th when settling back and running on strongly. She comes in here carrying the same weight and has every chance of coming out on top this day. It's a competitive maiden though. (4) TAP DIA has a 2nd and a 3rd among her own three starts so far. In this company, she may be further forward than in those races and the slight step up in trip can suit. (8) PROCEED showed improvement to run 3rd at start number two over 1300M on March 2nd. He too may like the increased distance and CC Wong climbs up. (3) EUMSEONG POWER and (10) ALL EYES ON ME among others capable of at least challenging for the places.

Selections (5) Seobu Champ (4) Tap Dia (8) Proceed (3) Eumseong Power

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Three-year-old maiden fillies here and it's hard to go past (3) APPLE QUEEN. Having run 4th on debut, all the way back last June, she didn't race again until this March 16th when she was an on-pace 3rd over 1400M. She should strip fitter for that run and will be strongly fancied to lead from gate to wire. (6) SHINE BOLT has shown steady improvement across three starts so far, culminating in a 4th place over 1200M on February 24th over this distance. She comes into a better gate here and can continue to get closer. (8) COMPLETE PARTY has two 3rd places among her four appearances. That means that any top-three finish will get her a rating and see her at class 5 next time and she could well match or better. (4) SMILE GOLD and (7) BYLONG STAR, the latter having been back to trial since a chastening debut, are others to consider.

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Competitive opener. (10) GANGSEO PRIDE ran 2nd on debut over this distance on March 8th, when on pace throughout. It wasn't a quick time, and he was well beaten by a good winner, but he should have derived benefit from the experience and with some natural improvement, he has as good a chance as any here. (9) GIANT MARINE raced three times without distinction up until July last year. He was then put away and returned on March 15th this year and ran much better, finishing 3rd in a decent time over 1200M. He should strip fitter for that run and can challenge here. (11) ONE WAY ROAD has been getting steadily better in recent outings and can continue his upward trajectory here. (5) CHOEGANG CHONGAL and (8) DREAM WAY others in at least the placing hunt.

Selections (10) Gangseo Pride (9) Giant Marine (11) One Way Road (5) Choegang Chongal

(3) LOVE COWGIRL returns to action for the first time since last September. After winning on debut, she finished 4th, 3rd and 2nd in three subsequent starts before her layoff and going by her all the way trial win two weeks ago, she can pick up from where she left off. (8) SEOUL CHOEGANGJA got his maiden win at this class and distance on March 3rd, settling handy and running on. He comes up 3.5kg in the weights today, but he can be competitive again. (6) THE SUN FIGHTER got his maiden win at this distance three starts back and has since run 4th and 5th in two tries at this level, most recently over 1700M. He looks nicely in here and should go close. (4) SINUI YEOJE and (11) GOOD SEONGBONG the other logical place chances.

(5) I AM LEGEND got her maiden win two starts back over this distance before running 2nd at big odds on her first try at this level on March 8th settling right back and running on. She seems to be hitting her groove and she can win this. (3) RAON THE TANGO enters off a useful 3rd place at this class over 1400M on March 8th. The same apprentice jockey keeps the edge off his carried weight and from a good draw, he can go close again. (11) HANEUL EUTTEUM scored a close 2nd place at this class and distance on March 15th. He comes up 2lg in the weights and he draws a touch wider than ideal, but he should be running on to be a danger once more. (2) YONGSAN KEUNBYEUL and (7) JEOLDAE BOSS are others who can enter at least the placing calculations.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(6) MUSS QUEEN FLY was a winner at start number two over 1300M on March 17th, when she overcame gate ten to run on very well. She comes up in class but is down in weight and comes into a better gate. The additional trip can suit, and she can win again. The probable favourite is (5) HEART K. He got his win at this distance in January and has since run 3rd and 2nd in two starts at this level, both over 1400M. He can race on pace or settle back and while he carries his fair share of weight, he can win. (2) YONGBI POWER also enters with recent form reading well, with a 2nd and two 3rd place finishes from her latest three. She is drawn well, carries a light weight, and shouldn't be far away. (8) SUMMER PARTY and (1) GEUMAK STAR others in the hunt.

(4) NORTHERN BID will be a warm favourite. He won his first three races between January and April of 2023 but then didn't reappear until this March. He ran 2nd and 3rd to bookend the month, most recently at class 3 level over 1400M. He has won twice at this distance already and third-up this preparation, he can be peaking. (1) RAON STRONG has won his latest two to get rapidly promoted up from class 5. Those wins came at a mile and at 1400M and in varying styles so he is very versatile so from the inside gate, Jung Do-yun should have plenty of options. (2) HWANGU DAEJANGGUN is a consistent type and should be there or thereabouts again. (9) SHAKA and (8) GOLDEN among plenty of others in at least the placing frame.

(2) JJARITHAN JAYU missed the final ten months of last year but has been in fine form since coming back just before Christmas, recording two 4th places and a 2nd in three outings this campaign. He carries his fair share of weight here, but he draws well, and he can win. The main danger and probable betting favourite is (8) RICH GATE. That's based on his last start 2nd at class and distance in a quick time when he raced on pace throughout. He comes up 2kg in the weights, but is still nicely in, and should be close. (1) GHOST CHARM has the fastest time of any of these for the distance and enters off a close 3rd place on March 24th when coming from well off the pace. He can get a bit far back in his races but carries a light weight and the small field should mean he doesn't have too much traffic to get through. (5) ONE SPEAR and (4) BIG SMART are the other placing chances.

Busan Race 4: Class Open (1600M) Special Weight A / KRW TJK Trophy / KRA 150 Million

(1) GREAT CAPTAIN returned from almost five months out to run a smart 3rd place, beating a few of these, at class 2 level over 1400M on March 8th. He comes up 3kg in the weights, but Franco remains on board, and he can go close here. (3) SEOBU BIGSTEP is the danger. He won back-to-back races at class 3 level over 1400M, before running 6th in that March 8th race behind Great Captain when sent off as the favourite. He too comes up in the weights but gets a much better draw here to get on pace and be in this a long way. (5) CAPTAIN GOLD won at 1400M at class 3 level last November and has run well for 3rd and 5th in two tries at this level, coming from off the pace both times. The step back up to a mile may suit and he can be considered. (6) ALIVE CAPTAIN and (8) GALLANT WARRIOR other chances.

(4) ULTRA GALAXY is a winner of five from fourteen up to class 2 level and to 2000M. He is first up here after a fifteen layoff, which is perhaps a concern, but he looks the quality in the field and with CC up, he can win. (10) NEULGAEUL has won three of his last five, most recently over 1800M at class 3 level on March 10th. The wide draw shouldn't be a problem, because he has a smart finish on him, and he should be doing his best work late here. (8) BLACK BELT is the beneficiary of the set weight scale here. He has won two of his last three and has never been worse than 5th. He hasn't gone beyond class 4 level yet, but he looks to have plenty of potential for more. (1) GANGPUNGMA and (9) LUCKY SUN other chances.

Busan Race 5: Class Open (1800M) Special Weight A / Tokyo City Keiba Trophy / KRW 150 Million

Fillies and mares only here. (8) EUNSEONG WINNER returned to winning ways on March 3rd, coming from well off the pace to score over this distance at class 3 level. Back in restricted filly and mare company here, she should have too much. (1) ATLAS has won at class 3 level over 1400M and enters off a runner-up finish, again at that shorter distance on March 31st. She makes a quick return here and while 1800M so far hasn't been her forte, in this company, she is worth another chance. (5) LUCKIEST GIRL started her career in a hurry but has had setbacks and returns to action for the first time since winning over 1400M at class 3 level in November last year. She looked in fine shape in two trials and can be competitive here. (6) SOLEDAD and the still unexposed (7) CRAZY ARMY are others to consider.

Seoul Race 7: Class Open (1200M) Special Weight A / SBS Sports Sprint (KOR-G3) / KRA 500 Million

There was a generational shift in the first leg of the Sprint Series at Busan a month ago, and that can be confirmed here. (4) SOMETHING LOST and (9) RAON THE POINT came home 2nd and 1st in the Busan Ilbo Sprint with very little between them and the four-year-old pair will be favoured to dispute top honours again here. Coming into a much better gate this time, and having just a neck to overturn, Something Lost can come out on top this time although Raon The Point, having only been beaten twice in nine starts, definitely shouldn't be dismissed. Expect both to be close to the pace. (6) EOMA EOMA was 5th in the Busan Ilbo, his first start of the year. He has been written off before but there is every chance he will strip fitter here and he will be a danger late on, especially if there is a hot pace on. (12) BEOLMAUI STAR was well below his best in two woeful runs at the Dubai Carnival. That made it three in a row where he has gone badly but he returns to Seoul for the first time since coming withing four-lengths of Remake in the Korea Sprint and a return to form isn't impossible so long as he gets out of the gate clealy. (5) COMPLETE VALUE completes the top line of favourites.

Busan Race 6: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

Competitive finale on the south coat. (9) CONCORD PARK is a winner of two of his last three, most recently at class 5 level over 1800M. He comes up in class here but is down in the weights and looks to have scope for more development. (1) BLUE MORE was a winner over 1400M at class 5 level and has since run 4th and 5th in two goes over a mile at this level. He comes up to two turns for the first time, but his recent running style suggests that it can suit and under a light weight, he should be close. (8) B. K. HUNTER has a 3rd and a 2nd from his latest two, both at this class and distance and while he comes up 2kg in the weights, he can be a danger here. (4) DOCTOR PHARAOH and (12) UNJU STAR other place chances.

Seoul Race 8: Class Open (1200M) Special Weight A / Cherry Blossoms Race / KRW 150 Million

This is essentially a class 3 race. (6) ZIGGURAT ran 4th in the Seoul Classic Trial over 1400M in last February and while he didn't go to the Cup Mile last week, he comes here instead. He has won at this distance, and he looks to have plenty of scope for more development. (13) BRIGHT HANSEN is three for three and rapidly up in class. Two of his wins have come at this distance and moreover, they have been in times that would be competitive in this company. He does have the challenge of gate thirteen but most of the speed is drawn wide here and four in a row isn't impossible. (10) BLUE LEMON has won her latest two, most recently at class 3 over this distance on March 9th when settling midfield and running on. She comes in under a light weight and with solid claims. (2) DONGJIN BULPAE and (14) JANGSAN SPO other chances in a hot race.

Seoul Race 9: Class Open (1800M) Special Weight A / Royal Western India Turf Club Trophy / KRW 150 Million

Fillies and mares only at the equivalent to class 2 level. (6) YELLOW CAT enters off 3rd place in the Listed Donga Ilbo Trophy at this distance behind probably the two best fillies in the country, Jeulgeounyeojeong and Wonderful Slew on March 24th. In this company, she can settle midfield and can be too good. (3) FALL IN LOVE won three in a row between last October and December to get rapidly promoted to class 2 level. On her only start so far this year, she ran a solid 4th over this distance at class 2, and while she is up in the weights here under today's set scale, she draws nicely and is a chance. (4) RAON THE ARIA is a class 2 winner and enters off a quick runner-up finish over 1400M. She tackles the 1800M for the first time, but it can suit. (7) WONDERFUL DEVIL and (5) LOVELY K others in the minor money hunt.

After running 2nd on debut, (2) CROWN HAMSEONG has gone on to win two in a row, most recently at class 5 level and 1300M on January 18th, having led all the way. She comes in off eleven weeks off and is up in class here, but she is well weighted, nicely draw, and she can complete here hat-trick. (4) OKCHEON SNIPER is the principal danger. A class 5 winner two starts back, he ran 2nd at this class and distance on February 24th, having led for much of the way. He carries his fair share of weight here but should be in the mix again. (10) FINAL CHUKJE will need a line drawn through his latest but was a class and distance winner as recently as December and comes in fresh after sixteen weeks off. (6) EOSEOWA and (1) BLACK GUN among others who can challenge for places.

He comes in under a similar weight, but he could well be too good here. (10) WONPYEONG KILLAR has a 2nd and a 4th from his latest two, most recently when sent off as favourite over this class and distance and then leading before getting passed late on. He comes in under the same weight and can be given another chance here. (3) THUNDER BLUE was 2nd to Wonpyeong Killar's 4th last time out and from a good draw, warrants respect here.
