Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Special Weight A / KRW 60 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

Juvenile maidens in the opener with eight of the eleven racing for the first time. We'll side with a debut maker, and it wasn't so much the time but the way (5) SPEED ONE completed his heat that puts him on top. Coming out of gate nine he sat handy and then ran on under a hold getting better with every stride. If he can show that kind of maturity at the races and when asked for an effort, he can win. (6) KNIGHT CHARM was asked for more in his trial in dreadful conditions in July. He responded nicely and ran on to cross the line with plenty in hand. He too can be considered first-up. Experience can count for plenty though. (9) MIRAE TOWER came from off the pace to run on for 4th over this distance on July 15th. He should have come on for that and with a better start can get closer today. (1) NICE TAEYANG and (8) HAMPYEONG JANGMI the other pair who can improve on their respective debuts.

(4) MOON DUST looks to be finally getting things together with a pair of 3rd place finishes from her latest two, both at this distance and both times racing on pace. She draws nicely to get an easy early run here and she will be the one the need to beat. It's not a strong race and that means we can give the solitary newcomer, (6) DAERYUN BULPAE, a chance. He trialled up a few times as a juvenile but never came anywhere close to qualifying before being put away for several months. He came back into training in June and looked much more assured when running 3rd in a fair time in a July trial. Don't rule out a bold showing first-up. (8) FINE DAY has a 3rd and a 4th among her five efforts so far and should be in the mix here. (7) JEONGSANG HIT and (10) BINNANEUN GEUMSEONG among others who can compete for the money in this modest contest.

Selections (4) Moon Dust (6) Daeryun Bulpae (8) Fine Day (7) Jeongsang Hit

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Special Weight A / KRW 60 Million

Juvenile maidens with eight of the eleven racing for the first time. (9) GEUMA DISTINCTION will be a warm favourite. The Kim Young-kwan trainee went through two trials, crossing the line 3rd in both, both in quick times. He can settle just off the pace here and if he brings the trial form to the races, he will be hard to beat. (5) SINCHEON FIRST won a June trial before racing on pace in debut on July 7th and ultimately running 4th in a good time over this distance. He should have benefited for the experience and can go closer here. Returning to the first-timers, (2) HWANGGEUMSEONG led every step of the way to win his trial in a good time on a wet track. He draws nicely, Seo Seung-un partners, and there is plenty to like about him. (1) CHRIS MORE and (7) LIGHT BROWN others who could put in a bold showing first-up.

Selections (9) Geuma Distinction (5) Sincheon First (2) Hwanggeumseong (1) Chris More

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 25 Million

A weak but very tricky race to predict. We'll take a chance on (2) GOLDEN SNIPER, who ran 2nd two starts back over this trip, settling handy and nearly getting there. He followed up with a 5th place on his latest appearance on July 9th when on pace throughout and from a good gate, today could be his day. (8) POWERFUL VISION ran an improved 5th at start number two over 1300M when on pace throughout. She can be expected to show at the front early again and should once more be in this a long way. (5) SHARP SUNSHINE has shown signs of figuring things out, finishing in the top four in each of her latest four appearances. Her times haven't been quick, but she finishes off her races well and can grind out another decent placing here. (7) SINUI HAMSEONG and (4) BEST PLAN, others in the minor money hunt.

Selections (2) Golden Sniper (8) Powerful Vision (5) Sharp Sunshine (7) Sinui Hamseong

(9) WONDERFUL ONE has shown improvement across three starts so far, culminating in 3rd place over this distance on July 9th when handy throughout and beating a couple of today's rivals. Without an apprentice claim today, he does come up 3kg in the weights, but that's balanced by Franco climbing aboard, and he can win. (7) YONGSAN KEUNBYEOL was 4th in that July 9th race, continuing a positive start to his career. He has almost two-lengths to find on Wonderful One, but he gets a weight swing and should be challenging the favourite for the lead from the start. (1) WONDERFUL SMARTY is a thirty-six-race maiden but comes in following her first ever second-place finish over this distance on June 16th. She is another who doesn't have an apprentice claim this time, but she has a good draw, and a repeat of that run will put her in the finish. (6) BLUE CAVIAR and (5) HANEUL BULPAE other placing chances.

Selections (9) Wonderful One (7) Yongsan Keunbyeol (1) Wonderful Smarty (6) Blue Caviar

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

Good race for the level for fillies (and one mare) only. (5) MUNHAK EAGLE shapes as the one to beat. She comes in having got her maiden win at start number three on July 2nd when making all over this distance and scoring by six-lengths. She is up in class here, but the manner of that victory suggests there can be more to come, and she can go all the way again. (4) HONOR ROSE is also up in class as she returns to action over three months after her maiden win when she made all at 1200M. She looked very well when leading all the way to win a trial last Friday, and so long as she didn't leave her race there, she should be right in this. More experienced is (2) BICHUI DAERYUK. She has only won once, but she has continually run good times and from a good draw can sit on pace and handy and go close. (3) FINE CAMP and up in class surprise last start winner (8) SEUNGRIUI YEONGHON others to consider.

Selections (5) Munhak Eagle (4) Honor Rose (2) Bichui Daeryuk (3) Fine Camp

Busan Race 3: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

Another competitive race. (6) QUEEN ROMANCE is still an eleven-race maiden, but she has seven top-five finishes including last time out when 5th on her first try at this class on July 2nd/ She stays under a light weight but gets a much better gate this time around, and today could be her day. (11) GOLD ROSE comes back slightly in trip having weakened late on last time out over 1300M. She goes best on pace so the wide draw isn't ideal, but in this company, she still has a fair chance of getting to the lead and if she does, she will be in this a long way. (9) HWARANG SKY has the fastest time among these for the distance. That was recorded when 2nd on a wet track on July 7th. Her style is to settle back and then run on so look out for her to be closing strongly at the business end of the race here. The only colt in the race, (1) BUILD UP, is another to look out for, along with (3) TWO TWO LIME.

Selections (6) Queen Romance (11) Gold Rose (9) Hwarang Sky (1) Build Up

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

Another wide-open race. We'll take a chance on (11) GEOSEN CHAMP. He got his maiden win at start number seven over this distance on July 8th when handy throughout. That win had been coming and while he is up in class here, he overcame a wide draw last time and a repeat is possible. (2) BARAMUI GEOM has been consistent across seven starts and after an inauspicious debut, has never missed out on the top-five. He comes up to this distance for the first time and from a good gate he should be on pace today and can potentially go all the way. (6) BARAMGWA HAMKKE made all to win at this class two starts back over 1300M. He has run quick times at this trip too and can be a danger. (5) BLUE INDY and the up in class last start winner (3) GALAXY SOCKS among others to keep safe.

Busan Race 4: Class 5 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

(4) ZETTA DREAM will be the hot favourite here. He got his maiden win in emphatic style over 1200M in May before stepping up to this class and to a mile on July 2nd and finishing a front-running 3rd. In doing so, he recorded a time faster than any of the others who have previously tackled 1600M have achieved and while he does come up 2kg in the weights, that experience should stand him in good stead here and he will take some beating. (3) PEGACORN remains a maiden after ten attempts but has seven top-four finishes and was a good 4th at this class over 1400M on July 23rd. He can settle handy or midfield here and can run into some money again. - (2) THEIA and (10) SUSO POWER have both placed at class and distance and while both will need their respective latest starts forgiven, they can be given a chance of repeating. (7) CENTUM THOR another with placing hopes.

Selections (4) Zetta Dream (3) Pegacorn (10) Suso Power (2) Theia

Seoul Race 6: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

Two standouts here. (6) SPO BLADE was a winner at class and distance back in April when he made all and while he found himself overmatched in the KRA Cup Mile, the first leg of the Triple Crown, he has subsequently run well back in two starts back shallower waters with a 3rd and a 4th at this distance. He carries his fair share of weight, but he can well here. The main danger who will dispute favourite status is (4) BEAT RUNNER. While he was beaten by Spo Blade two starts back, he came out on June 18th and ran a strong 2nd, again at this class and distance. He likes to settle back and run on and still under a relatively light weight, he can pose a big threat. There are plenty of placing chances here. (5) HUNTER BLADE ran 2nd last time out on July 15th coming from off the pace in a quick time. He comes up in the weights here but should be competitive. (3) RAON THE WEEKEND and (1) EOSEOWA among others who can go close.

(2) POWER SOUND was sent off as favourite at class and distance on July 9th but after showing on the speed, had a poor final furlong and finished back in 6th. He is a class and distance winner already though and Seo Seung-un, who has won twice on him, returns to the ride today. From a good draw, he can be given another chance. (6) ACE FIGHTING comes up rapidly in class having got a pair of wins from her opening two outings, both over 1200M, both times on pace. She comes up in trip too but stays under a light weight and she can measure up in this company. (4) META QUEEN has won her latest three including last time out at class and distance on June 25th when settling just behind the speed and running on. You need to be very good to win four in a row, but she remains nicely weighted and draws well. (5) VERLUC is up in class but down in the weights and comes in looking for a hat-trick. He shouldn't be far away. (8) WORLD CLASS CAT another firmly in the hunt in what is a very nice-looking race.

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(3) CONCORDE SPURT has nine to-four finishes from eleven starts so far and while his sole win so far was over 1200M all the way back in March of 2022, he looks ready to win again. This is his fourth start since returning from eight months out in May, with a 2nd and a 3rd from his latest two and coming back up to two turns, he can win again. (7) G MOTION looks the main danger. He won in a quick time over 1400M in May to get promoted to this level and was 3rd on his first try at it over 1800M on July 16th. He is nicely weighted here and can settle on pace or midfield and then run on. (8) LONDON MYEONGGA comes up in class and in distance following an all the way win over 1300M on July 9th. This will be his first time around two turns, but he should be on pace again and can be competitive. (4) CLUB D and (6) BYEORAK among others in the placing hunt.

Busan Race 6: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

Since returning from fifteen months out, (10) ADELE ROSARIO is two for two with a pair of smart front-running wins over 1200M. Those were at class 4, so she comes up in difficulty level today and she does also draw wider than ideal. That's balanced a little by a big drop in the weights and with a touch of luck at the start, she can make it three in a row. (4) JATNAMUGIL enters off a strong 2nd in a quick race at class and distance on July 14th. He carries his fair share of weight here but draws well and can be a big danger. (9) I WILL THE STAR was last seen in Busan's Classic Trial in March. He looked well when winning a trial on July 15th, leading for almost the entire way around, and under a light weight can go well first up at what should be at least an each-way price. (1) B. K. NEW MOON and (8) SONHADOR among others to keep safe.

Seoul Race 8: Class 3 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

A small but very competitive field. (6) ULTRA GALAXY just about gets the verdict, having made all to score by a full fourteen-lengths over this distance on July 9th. He is up in class but that was a super time for the 1700M regardless of the conditions and anything like that performance again will see him win in this company. (1) TAPDOWN enters having run 3rd over 1800M at this class on June 18th racing handy throughout. From the inside gate he should have similar tactics here and can go closer. (8) MUNHAK TAPIT was the one chasing Ultra Galaxy home fourteen-lengths in arrears in that July 9th race. Having already won at this distance at class 4 level, that runner-up finish was enough to get him promoted to this class too. While he may not be able to erase all that deficit, he gets a 3.5kg swing in the weights and he may get closer. Certainly. he can measure up against the rest. (3) DREAM FASHION and (5) SAENAE POWERFUL the other placing chances.

Busan Race 7: Class 2 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

(9) GOLDEN POWER returned to winning ways on July 14th when he beat a field containing six of today's rivals having settled back and run on strongly. He comes up 2.5 kg in the weights, but he is favoured to come out on top again and third-up this preparation may strip even fitter. (1) LANE KILLER was sent off as favourite for that July 14th race but while he led for much of the way around, ultimately came home in 4th. That was his first try at this level having won back-to-back races over this distance at class 3 in May and June, and he can be given another chance here from a good draw. (6) UNJU HERO was 3rd in that race of reference having raced on pace. He continues under a light weight and should be there or thereabouts again while (3) MALIBU BYEOL exceeded expectations in coming 2nd. He is a class and distance winner and warrants respect here. If you prefer to take something that didn't go in the July 14th race, then (5) DOCTOR FAITH may be the one to go for.

(4) GIMCHEON YEONGUNG shapes as the one to beat here. His recent form reads fairly, and he comes back to a trip at which he has recorded a very fast time. There is little early speed here so form a good gate he may well get a soft lead and prove difficult to get past in what is not a strong race.  (6) YEONGUNG DAEMA doesn't exactly win out of turn either, but his recent form reads well. He tends to do his best work late on in his races and if he can be witing striking distance in the straight, then he is capable of a big run. (1) FAST TRACK won at this class over 1800Min March, making all. He hasn't been able to replicate that form in three starts since, but he comes into softer company today and can be considered for improvement. (2) MAGIC JOY and (5) ALEXANDER ONE others who may enter the calculations.

Seoul Race 10: Class 1 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million

Much of this field has nominated for the Korea Sprint, a race which is going to be very hard for the locals this year although with big prize money all the way down to 5th, it will still be worth them having a go. One such nominee is (7) RAON TAP MAN. He has firmly established himself in the top echelon of sprinters with two class 1 wins at this distance from his latest four starts. He ran 4th last time out in the SROA Chairman's Sprint when he had to contend with gate fifteen to get on to the lead, but today should be a far more comfortable assignment. (5) LEGEND DAY finished midfield in that SROA Sprint but is a multiple winner at class 1. He has run some super times at this distance and under a light weight can be considered. Never rule out (3) MORFHIS from a big run although as usual he must contend with a big weight. (1) LORD BAN and (6) COBRA BALL others with placing or better chances.
