Group racing at Longchamp Sunday

3 minute read

Two G3s of interest and a G2 are on Sunday's card.

The two G2s feature the 3yos and may provide indicators for the spring races to come. The Prix de la Force is for the boys and will be over 1800m with 8 runners.  Horizon Dore comes from the in-form Cottier stables and will be ridden by M. Grandin and they are on 3/1.  He's by Dabirsim.  Birr Café is a Fabre Godolphin runner with Barzalona on board and the son of Cloth of Stars is on 4/1.  We rather like Padishakh, an unbeaten son of Wooton Basset, from the Rouget yard with Demuro riding. He won at Chantilly by 5 ½ lengths and is on 11/4.

The Prix Vanteux is for the girls over the same trip and there will be 7 of them, with the Rouget Around Midnight in the hands of C Demuro and their quote 2/1.  The name recalls the film "Round Midnight" starring our old friend Dexter Gordon – worth a look if you haven't seen it.  Couple of raiders here – the Richard Hughes trained Sparkling Beauty will have Kevin Stott on board and is on 3/1 and Delightful is the Coolmore runner on 4/1 – Aidan O'Brien- Ryan Moore.

The G2 is the Prix d'Harcourt over 2000m with a number of these resuming after their winter holidays.  Rouget saddles the favourite Al Hakeem who is on 8/11.  Iresine ran well last prep and could be worth a go at 8/1 and Simca Mille was last seen in the Japan Cup which wasn't really his go and he should be happier here and is on 13/2.
