Stunning win by Liberty Island

That was in the G1 Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) at Hanshin on Sunday.

The daughter of our own Yankee Rose was racing in the last 3 until the turn into the home straight where she started her move and didn't really get going until the 300m mark but when she got going she pulverised the opposition and nearing the line when we thought she may have left it too late, she hadn't and put that bit extra into her finish and scored a superb win.  Yuga Kawada was her pilot and there is vision of the race through a jockey cam which you may be able to find on You Tube.

A couple of surprise finishers in the second Kona Coast on 17/1 and Perfania 16/1 with some nice fillies following them.

On Saturday Eeyan won the G2 New Zealand Trophy, the prep for the NHK Mile, in the hands of Mirco Demuro.  Next home was the filly Umbrail, a daughter of Lord Kanaloa on 13.7 and third went to Champagne Color on 22.6.

And at Hanshin the Sankei Sports Hanshin Himba G2 again saw some upsets as the winner, Sound Vivace, was on 13.6, the second Sublime Anthem on 43.0 and the third Costa Bonita on 30.8.

Now looking forward to the Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) and seeing Liberty Island again although she could take on the boys if connections wished.
