It was Kitty's Light who took home the trophy for the Scottish Grand National.

Sent off at 4/1 joint favourite with Your Own Story he managed to win to the delight of the punters and trainer Chris Williams and jockey Jack Tudor.

Unfortunately joint-favourite Your Own Story couldn't do the double GN for Lucinda Russell and Derek Fox but still managed to finish 6th with many of the UK bookies paying 6 places.

Cooper's Cross ran second which was some consolation to his owners who had lost Hill 16 at Aintree and Flash de Touzaine at 40/1 was third.  Flash Collonges was going OK until he fell and that was that.

At Newbury the soft ground was not to the liking of a number of favourite especially Hurricane Lane in the John Porter and as an odds-on favourite he ran a shocker but it was clear from early on that he hated the going.  The race went to 18/1 Grand Alliance in the hands of the birthday-boy James Doyle who brought the Charlie Fellowes trained runner in ahead of Farham 40/1.  Mojo Star in fourth was the best of the fancied runners.

Remarquee won the Fred Darling for Becket-Hornby starting at 7/2.  Swingalong was third.

And wow at the start of the Greenham when Chaldean and Frankie Dettori parted company coming out the gate.  Neither was hurt and in fact Chaldean ran quite a good race despite an absent jockey.  The win went to Isaac Shelby 15/2 who isn't entered in the English Guineas and may run in the French equivalent.  Charyn was second 14/1 Theory of Everything third.
