On Sunday in the Wan Chai Gap Handicap at Sha Tin Vincent Ho encouraged Straight Arran to show his stuff in a withering finish to the race in which the first three had all been beaten in the Derby.

Sword Point as favourite but burned off by the winner who won by 3 ¼ lengths, with Sweet Encounter 6.1 third.

Fownes said that the lack of pace in the Derby was not the best for his runner and thinks there could be a couple of good races for him before the end of the season.

Next weekend we will be on the ground to bring you all the news for the Champions' Day races and it should be a very exciting day indeed.
