3 minute read

Despite other activities going on in London many eyes will be focused on Newmarket on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday sees the running of the 2000 Guineas for the 3yo colts and there will be 14 of them lining up for the 1600m on the Rowley course.

Aidan O'Brien has describer Auguste Rodin as the best horse he has had, and the horse has a pedigree to match being by Deep Impact out of the lovely mare Rhododendren.  He will probably eventually want further but he will have no problems with the trip.  He's on 13/8 and may well start shorter.

Stablemate Little Big Bear is by No Nay Never and will be accompanied by Wayne Lordan.  If there were no Auguste Rodin in the yard he would be a star product, having also won 4 of his 5 starts.  He's on 5/1.

On the same quote is Chaldean and Frankie Dettori may be using superglue to make sure he stays on after having been dumped coming out the gate last time.  Chaldean is by Frankel and certainly talented.

We think Silver Knott has improvement to come and could be better than a 12/1 shot for Appleby-Buick if that improvement has arrived.

Also on the card is the Palace House G3 over the 1000m with 17 to run.  We don't know a great deal about these sprinters but the market has Twilight Call on top for Henry Candy and Ryan Moore.  Manaccan is on 7/2 for John Ryan and Dettori, with two Equiano offspring here both trained by Charlie Hills – Equality with Buick riding and Equilateral with Jim Crowley on board on 11/1 and 14/1.
