Both races are for 3yos with the former G2 and the latter G1.

The Mile is the start of a series of G1 races leading up to the Yasuda Kinen in June.  But firstly the G2 Kyoto Shimbun Hai over 2200m.  We don't know a great deal about these colts except for the Morning Line which gives Satono Glanz as favourite on 3.2 with Kawada riding and he's by Satono Diamond.  Danon Tornado is a colt by Heart's Cry and he is on 4.4, and then there are two on 6.1 – Omega Rich Man by Isla Bonita, and Meiner Laulea by Gold Ship.

The Mile has both 3yo colts and fillies in the field.  Damian Lane's mount Carro Veloce is by Silver State and his two starts to date have yielded a win over this trip and a second over 1400m both at Chukyo.  Then there's three runners all around the 6.3 figure and all 3 are colts – Obamaburai by Discreet Cat will have Yutaka Take in the irons, Eeyan who is another by Silver State won the G2 New Zealand Trophy, and Dolce More by Rulership got a bit stuck at his last outing so ignore that and look at his previous very good form.

If you are wanting to put in a filly for their weight advantage maybe Umbrail, a daughter of Lord Kanaloa, on 19.9 could fill the bill.
