Marhaab Ya Sanafi wins Poulains at Longchamp

3 minute read

Starting at 33/1 our roughie, trained by Andreas Schütz and ridden by Mickael Barzalona, scored a stunning victory.

He scored a tight win over one of the race favourites Isaac Shelby with Breiz Sky, by Pedro The Great, third.

Favourite American Flag blew the start and was never a feature in the race although doing his best at the finish when managing to take fourth, just ahead of Valimi.

The girls in the Pouliches were slightly more predictable with the win going to the Head filly Blue Rose Cen having no major problems in winning from Lindy with Sauterne, a Kingsman filly, third.

The other G1 for the fillies, the 2000m Prix Saint Alary, saw Carlos Laffon-Parias's Frankel filly Jannah Rose win comfortably under Christophe Soumillon.  Elusive Princess and Crown Princess followed.

It is very likely that we will see the two filly winners of the G1s meet in the Diane.

Earlier Tom Marquand put in a cool run on White Lavender to win the Prix Saint Georges wire-to-wire.  Second in the Abbaye last year looks like he's heading to the Abbaye again this year.  Perdika was 1 ½ lengths away in second and Forza Capitano ran a good race to take third.
