An Aussie on the Knavesmire

3 minute read

And a 4-legged one to boot!

The Astrologist makes his UK debut today at York where he will run in the G2 Duke of York Clipper Stakes over 1200m.

This is the first day of York's fabulous Dante meeting and we hope our compatriot enjoys his trip to this wonderful track.  He's on the second line of betting on 5/1 behind local champ Highfield Princess and Godolphin's Creative Force both on 3/1.  While he is aim is Royal Ascot this is a very good choice of a warm-up and if he is on anything like his Dubai form he should be in with a very good chance.  Ryan Moore takes over the reins as regular partner Damian Lane is in Japan.  The race will be run at midnight Eastern Australian time.

The G3 Musidora is for 3yo fillies over 2100m and considered one of the main prep races for the Oaks.  11 are entered, with Infinite Cosmos, the Sir Michael Stoute trained daughter of Sea the Stars on top on 13/8.  Richard Kingscote has the ride.  In her favour is the fact that this is her second start of the season as she won a race at Newmarket recently.

Navakai is a promising Lope de Vega daughter for Burke-Lee on 4/1 and she will be competitive here. 4/1 the quote.  Jack Channon saddles Gather Ye Rosebuds, a Zoffany product with Jamie Spencer riding and Coolmore's Lambada is a bit of an unknown quantity for O'Brien-Moore on 9/1.

Should be a nice day with temperature around 16 and the possibility of the sun making an appearance.  Track rated good.
