Judging from the amount of attention he got from his trainer pre-race he's a well loved and happy horse.  Also he had not raced in the two previous "crown" races but waitied for thisat the more suitable distance.  By Arrogate, and ridden by Javier Castellano who added another "crown" to his Kentucky Derby one from Maze, he did all the right things in the race and was able to produce a strong finish.

Forte was taken back early in the race and this may not have been the greatest idea as he then encountered traffic problems in order to get out and was finishing strongly so yes he got the trip but too little too late.  Tapit Trice was trailing Forte and also finished strongly.

Angel of Empire was fifth and he may have been a question mark over the distance.
