3 minute read

This is the day where we see some interesting raiders.

The Jersey Stakes G3 over 1400m for 3yos has 15 runners.  The market has Covey on top on 2/1 but for us that is far too short for a horse that has had only two starts.  We prefer the O'Brien-Moore The Antarctic on 4/1 who is by Dark Angel.  Olivia Maralda is 5/1 with the fillies weight advantage for Roger Varian and Kevin Stott.  And our roughie here is Holguin 22/1 by Havana Grey and with Andrew Balding and David Proberts on board – he's searching hard for another win after his recent record of one 3 and four 2s.

The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes has an international feel to it with Artorius on top on 4/1 Freedmans-J Mac.  He was third in this last year and done well at home.  Hong Kong's Wellington gets a quote of 9/2 for the Richard Gibson trained runner who has booked Ryan Moore for the ride.  Local hopes rest here on Highfield Princess who was a close second on Tuesday and will have another go here.  The other Australian runners are Cannonball who after his run the other day may not do any better this time – 33/1.  And 40/1 for The Astrologist with the winning jockey from his Dubai success Damian Lane coming over for the ride – that seems a bit generous so maybe a bit of the e/w fund on him.

The Hardwicke G2 over 2000m has 8 runners and sees Free Wind going for a fifth consecutive win – Gosdens-Dettori say no more.  15/8.  Hukum has been talked about a lot and comes in next on 2/1 with Jim Crowley as usual on board.  Not sure what to put in for a third pick so we have put in Deauville Legend 17/2 James Ferguson- Dan Muscat.

We don't normally venture into the realm of the Handicaps but an exception is the Wokingham where a full field of 28 will come charging down the Ascot straight 1200.

Orazio, who was out for the whole of 2022, has returned in style and is on top here on 11/2 with William Buick riding for Charlie Hills.  The rest are the result of the sharp pin selection method and are Lethal Levi 14/1, Hurricane Ivor 28/1 and Duca di Como 33/1.
