Aidan O'Brien's 100th Classic winner was certainly one to remember.
His impressive Deep Impact colt Auguste Rodin won the Irish Derby to achieve a rare win from our roughie stablemate Adelaide River with another stablemate Covent Garden 80/1 third and a fourth stablemate Peking Opera 66/1.
Unfortunately a fifth stablemate, San Antonio, broke down and had to be euthanised and caused a very nasty fall for Wayne Lordan.
On Saturday at the Curragh the Airlie Stud for the 2yo fillied was no problem for the talented Matrika, a No Nay Never filly with O'Brien-Moore her accompanists. She was odds-on and beat Ginzburg by 1 ¾ lengths with Ashwayaa 22/1 third.
The Pretty Polly went to Via Sistina in a rough race and although there was a stewards' enquiry after the result stood. Hughie Morrison's Stay Alert 25/1 was 2 lengths away in second and Above The. Curve a further 1 ¼ back in third.
The Paddy Power International went O'Brien-Moore with Mashoor who won by 4 ¾ lengths from Al Riffa with Alfred Munnings third.
Also on the Sunday card the Railway Stakes G2 went to Bucanero Fuerte Adrian Murray-Rossa Ryan who defeated the favourite Unquestionable 15/8 by a short head with His Majesty third.
