Longchamp on Bastille Day

3 minute read

Interesting mix of raiders and locals for the three Group races on the card.

The first of the Group races is the G2 Prix Malleret for 3yo fillies over 2400m.  Raider Crack of Light is by Kingman and she is a course and distance winner here so with local experience!

However evens is a tight call so maybe we should consider the locals and go for Yorokobi on 10/3, a Camelot filly trained by P.Decouz and Cristian Demuro rides.

The Grand Prix de Paris is for 3yo colts (no geldings again) over 2400m with 8 contenders.  Soul Sister the Epsom Oaks winner has been supplemented for this and the Gosdens have given the ride to Kevin Shoemark in the absence of the suspended Dettori.  They are on evens too and much the same as in the Malleret we will give the nod to Pascal Bary's Kingman colt Feed The Flame, who has also been supplemented.  They are on 4/1.

The two O'Brien runners Adelaide River 5/1 and Peking Opera 25/1 ask the question is Peking Opera being brought in as a pacemaker of does he have a genuine chance?  We are leaning towards the latter and think 25/1 extremely tempting.

The G2 Maurice de Nieuil is G2 over 2600m and the raider River of Stars is on 11/4 with Theo Bachelot riding for Ralph Beckett.  Stephan Wattel saddles The Good Man on 3/1 with Alex Pouchin on board, and we think the two runners on 10/3 Skazino and Sober are not without chances as well.

This is a twilight meeting and will no doubt be followed by fireworks and other festivities.
