In the US over the weekend

It all started off with a big upset in the Haskell

However some are saying it shouldn't have been such an upset – that is when Geaux Rocket Go went off at 12/1 for Richard Mandella and Mike Smith.  Actually it was a very good and very competitive Haskell field this year so that meant that Geaux Rocket Go got out to that quote.  Mage's connections had made no secret of the fact that this was a run en route to the Travers so they would have been pleased with the Derby winner's second, with Baffert's Arabian Knight favourite and third.

Earlier the United Nations also Gr 1 had gone to Therapist 12/1 for Maker-Castellano with Catnip second to the delight of the resident feline who is expecting and upgrade in the Whiskers department, and Red Knight third.

At Saratoga the Coaching Club America Oaks saw Wet Paint 15/1 win nicely from Sacred Wish 10/1 and favourite Gambling Girl third.  Hoosier Philly was a non-runner.

At Del Mar Anisette proved to be just as nice a horse as the name is for a tipple that we like when she won from Ocean Club 12/1 and And Tell Me Nolies on a very generous 35/1.

On Tuesday Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil will be sentencing Jason Servis in the long-running trial of several prominent trainers, vets and others.  We will report on this later in the week.
