Deauville Sunday

3 minute read

Time to get out the bucket and spade and head to Deauville.

Sunday's card features the Prix Rothschild G1 and three G3s.

The first of the G3s is the Prix de Cabourg for the 2yos down the 1200m straight course and there will be 6 participants.  The ground is listed as Soft.  Elite Status is odds-on in the UK for Burke-Lee and seems a promising type.  By Havana Grey as is Havana Cigar on 7/2 for Rouget-Demuro.

The Rothschild is over 1600m for f&m with 9 runners including a number of raiders.  One of these, Remarquee comes from Ralph Beckett's yard and will be ridden by Rob Hornby and main opposition will come from the locals' Kelina – Carlos Laffon-Parias with Maxime Guyon in the irons and 4/1 the UK quote.   As its soft going we are going to put in two roughies on 15/1 – Marquise de Sevigne and Sauterne.

The Prix de Psyche is for 3yo fillies over 2000m with 8 runners.  Carlos Laffon-Parias's Frankel filly Left Sea is a bit inconsistent but that's what the summer has been and she could be a lot better than most of these – she's on 3/1.  Paz is Fabrice Chappet's Siyouni filly who will be ridden by Stephan Pasquier and is on 4/1, with raider Empress Wu on the same quote – she's by Sea The Moon and is with David Simcock who has booked Cristian Demuro for the ride.

The Six Perfections is for 2yo fillies over 1400m on the round course with 7 going to post.  Classic Flower has shown talent and she tops the call on 6/4 for Cottier-Demuro.  There are two on 3/1 – Minoushka and Cavaletti – and we are leaning towards the latter.

If you are in Deauville and up early or out very late you can see the horses going for a swim at the beach.
