Monday sees the opening of the fabulous Galway Week

It's not just a week of racing it's a week of parties and great festivities so that many who start the week need to break about halfway through in order to be alive at the end.

The flat feature is the Claytonhotelgalway.ie Handicap over 1400m for the 3yos with a nice field of 15.  We know little about these youngsters so just the market here which has The Snapper on top on 10/3 for Jack Davison and Ronan Whelan.  Biggerthanbigtime is on 9/2 for Paddy Roche and Chris Hayes and on the same quote Noel Meade's Not Just Yet with Colin Keane on board.

It used to be the case of "just back Dermot Weld's horses" but Willie Mullins is now training flat horses as well as jumps and has more or less taken over the crown.  He's bringing the well-bred Mystical Powers to the Novice Hurdle – the horse is by Galileo out of the lovely mare Annie Powers.  Should be worth watching except it's a twilight meeting so won't be possible in the Antipodes.
