Al Husn wins Nassau at Goodwood

The prize money may help Jim Crowley pay his fine for over using the whip in the King George.

Both the amount of the fine and the suspension seem very harsh from this distance however back to Galway and the Nassau which show Blue Rose Cen's jockey get a lesson on how not to ride Goodwood as they got stuck in a pocket and unable to get a good run.  Nashwa also is not at her best and obviously did not enjoy the going running third of the 6 runners.

Shadwell are having a good run at the moment with Hukum winning the G1 King George and Al Husn winning this G1.  Above the Curve finished second having started at 7/1 and the winner had been on 9/1.

Earlier Vandeek had no problems winning the Richmond from Ballymount Boy 25/1 and Toca Madera third but with only 7 runners that wasn't quite good enough.

The Gordon went to the regally-owned Desert Hero for Haggis-Marquand and it looks like Their Majesties may have a St Leger contender.  Chesspiece was second at 7/2 and Canberra Legend third, but as with the previous race that wasn't quite good enough in a 6 horse field.

Friday sees the running of the Thoroughbred Stakes G3 over 1600m for the 3yos with 7 runners.  Nostrum is the odds-on favourite here for Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore with Docklands a potential challenger for Harry Eustace and Hayley Turner.  We would like to add Bold Discovery 14/1 – Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley – but probably just in multiples since we seem to be picking a lot of third placers in fields under 8 runners.

The King George Qatar Stakes G2 has at least got 11 runners for the 1000m dash.  Highfield Princess is 10/11 here with Equality next best on 6/1 with Ryan Moore riding for Charlie Hills.  We are following White Lavender who was second in the Abbaye last year and should be coming up to form who is on 14/1 so we can go the e/w here.
