Was marred by the fatal fall of Maple Leaf Mel in the Test.

Maple Leaf Mel, trained by Mel Giddings and ridden by Joel Rosario was 3 lengths in front of the field when he suffered a catastrophic injury in the last 200m.  Rosario was taken to hospital for observation and some treatment for cuts to his face.

The win went to Pretty Mischievous with the horse with our favourite name Clearly Unhinged second and Munnya Gold third but there were no celebrations after the race.

The Saratoga Invitational Derby went to Program Trading with Webslinger second and favourite Far Bridge third.  The raiders didn't feature.

The Whitney saw a big upset when Cody's Wish was defeated by White Aborio and Zandon.  His jockey said that he was not responding when asked to put in a run and that it could have been the trip and it was his first go at the distance.  White Aborio is now trained by Richard Dutrow who has returned from a 10 year ban and was delighted with the result.  They are intending to go straight to the Breeders' Cup as this was a "win and your in" race.

At sunny and hot Del Mar Adara Manor had no problems in winning the Clement L Hirsch as she finished a length ahead of Desert Dream 6/1.
