133rd Grosser Preis von Berlin

3 minute read

This G1 is over 2400m and will have 7 starters on Sunday at Hoppegarten.

This race was famously won by Alpinista in a series of 3 GPs in Germany before coming back the next year to Europe and win the Arc.

There's a couple of good raiders here including Simca Mille for Wattel-Pouchin who is no stranger to traveling as he went to Japan last year for the Japan Cup.  He didn't have any luck there but since returning has run very well and comes into this as even-money favourite.

New London is an interesting Godolphin runner for Appleby and James Doyle as this is his second start this prep after he had time off for a wind operation.  Obviously the op worked and he raced well on his return and is 7/2 here.  Appleby has also enjoyed good luck when bringing runners to Germany.
