Ace Impact wins Guillaume d'Ornano

3 minute read

Tuesday at Deauville Ace Impact won the G2 over 2000m on soft ground.

The Rouget pupil is still favourite for the Arc and may go to Ireland for the Champion Stakes en route.  In the race Cristian Demuro got him to settle at the rear of the field and then after they turned into the home straight let him go and he produced that fantastic turn of foot which he showed in the Jockey Club.

Al Raffa was up there with him but couldn't outrun the fast-finishing winner so if Ace Impact does go to Ireland Al Raffa will be waiting for him.  Third went to the Andre Fabre trained Godolphin colt Birr Castle who started on 11/1.  Victoria Road ran out of gas – either the going or the trip was a bit too much this time.

Rouget and Demuro teamed up in the G3 Prix Minerve to win with Elouda Queen 5/1 who is by Australia.  Dabawa was a handy second and third home was Mystic Pearl, a daughter of Invincible Spirit who is with William Haggas who had Ryan Moore riding.
