The weekend in America was busy on both coasts

3 minute read

The West coast is anxiously waiting to see how Hurricane Hilary will affect them.

Del Mar had already cancelled Sunday's meeting and are hoping to be able to resume on Thursday.

On Saturday racing was as normal and that meant the Del Mar Oaks was run and won by

Anisette, a lovely horse and a lovely drop scoring her fourth consecutive win.  Be Your Best was second and Impact Warrior third.  As this was on turf not surprising to see that the first three home had started life in England and Ireland.  Anisette had previously won the San Clemente and under Umberto Rispoli came from the back of the pack and found a gap from where she could show off her great turn of foot.

At Saratoga the Lake Placid saw Aspray defeat her stable mate Surge Capacity by two lengths with Soviet Excess third.  Undervalued Asset did not get a start as Prerequisite ran but without glory.

The Alabama saw Randomized go from wire-to-wire to win for Joel Rosario and trainer Chad Brown.  They finished 4 lengths ahead of Wet Paint with Defining Purpose third on 14/1.
