Newbury Saturday saw the running of the G2 Hungerford Stakes over 1400m.

The race was won by Witch Hunter 12/1 for Hannon-Levy with second prize going to New Endeavour 8/1, a horse owned by Aussie trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott currently with Roger Varian and third went to Chindit who was favourite.

York's popular Ebor meeting starts Wednesday but there is a rail strike possible on the Saturday which may have an adverse affect on attendance numbers.
