Day 2 of the WASJ in Sapporo

3 minute read

Bit cloudy this morning and the traffic chaotic because of the Marathon.

Cloudy too although still warm (30) (called hot by the locals as this part of Japan is better known for skiing and the ice festival.

The track should continue to be very fast,  Rachel King is leading the points charge and only has to do another reasonable finish for the money (or a large portion of it) to be hers.

The WASJ races are Race 10 and 12.

Race 10 is over 1700m on Dirt with Umberto Rispoli's. mount Baraione Kiseki,6.4,  a daughter of Aussie bred Kinshasa no Kiseki, being favourite in a fairly open race.  Leesan Burning is on 6.6 for young Iwata, Reimei on 7.1 for Kawada, 7.3 Octonian for Sakae and Rachel King's mount For Oneself is on 8.0.

Race 12 is back on the turf track and over 1800m with a shorter priced favourite here in King Lokomaikai for Kawada.  Best of the rest so far is Luke Morris's mount Shonan Addeybb on 5.8 with Take's mount Meiner Douglas on 6.4.  Then there's Win Shukrun on 7.5 for Lemaire and 8.3 Tudo de Bom for Moreira (and Moreira already ridden a winner today).  Rachel King's horse Atomica is on the outsider side of things at around 40/1 although he's by Rulership and out of a Rock of Gibraltar mare so let's make it our roughie.

Every rider gets some points in a race with the winner getting 30, second 20, third 10 etc so one of the other jockeys would need to do very well in both races to catch our Rachel.
