After the excitements of Saturday at Leopardstown racing moves up the road to the Curragh.
It's a busy day with 4 group races before the St Leger starting with the G2 Blandford for f&m over 2000m with 11 starters. Jackie Oh and Araminta are the two most favoured at around 4/1 – Jackie Oh being the O'Brien-Moore rep and Araminta the Candy-Keane rep. Joseph O'Brien's Lumiere Rock is not far off at 5/1 with Dylan McMonagle on board.
The Flying Five is over the 5 furlongs or 1000m with 10 starters headed by Highfield Princess on 11/8 for Quinn-Hart. Bradsel is on 5/2 for Archie Watson and Hollie Doyle with Art Power on 9/2 for Tim Easterby and Oisin Murphy. We have a roughie here on 20/1 – Moss Tucker.
The Moyglare Stud Stakes G1 is over 1400m for 2yo fillies with 9 entrants. Ylang Ylang is a short priced favourite on 10/11 for O'Brien-Moore. Vespertilia is 4/1 for McCreary-Lee and is fancied as the potential upsetter. However we love Porta Fortuna and jockey Frankie Dettori will know exactly what her name means and 13/2 looks value.
The Vincent O'Brien National Stakes is G1 no geldings! Why no geldings pleeeeeease? It's over 1400m. And there's only 6 of them possibly because City of Troy does look like a future champion and is odds-on for O'Brien-Moore. Bucanero Fuerte has answered all questions asked of him to date so this race should be a real test. He and Henry Longfellow (another O'Brien with Heffernan riding) are on 4/1.
The Irish St Leger also G1 is open to horses over the 3y limit of the UK version. 2800m is the same however and there will just be 5 runners. Kyprios is on evens here for O'Brien-Moore with stablemate Emily Dickinson on 3/1, a quote shared with Eldar Eldarov from Roger Varian's yard with D. Egan riding
