And the Champion Stakes was just that as Auguste Rodin dug deep and won a tight battle with stablemate Luxembourg and the fast-finishing Nashwan to show his class when it was most needed.  Credit to Ryan Moore who urged him over the line.  It may now be on to Santa Anita and the Breeders' Cup.  Luxembourg had one the race last year and was near the lead for most of this year's version, and Nashwa was not far away and produced a great finish but the son of Deep Impact proved he really is something special, even if he does have the off day.

The Juvenile Stakes went to favourite Diego Velazquez with Capulet second and in one of those weird numbers things third place Atlantic Coast was 3 ¼ lengths behind with that being the margin he had one by in his previous outing.

Tahiyra justified her odds-on favouritism with a fine win in the Matron with Royal Millenium 12/1 and Just Beautiful 6/1 the bridesmaids.
