We love the Curragh and seeing the horses head across the track on their own unlike the US where they are ponied everywhere, and if, as happened one time at Phoenix Park, a horse escapes well you just telephone the pub down the road and ask them to catch it for you.

The Blandford saw Lumiere Rock show a clean pair of heels to Jackie Oh and Trevaunance 8/1 for Joseph to get one over his father.  Araminta was a shade disappointing – she may not have liked the ground.

The Flying Five saw our roughie Moss Tucker salute at 16/1.  He's owned by an Irish Rugby Player who named him after two team mates Moss Keane and Colm Tucker who all played in the Munster team in 1978 which beat the All Blacks, and he said the odds were probably similar and lightning does strike twice.  They are now off to the Abbaye.  Get Ahead 22/1 was second and Equoality 20/1 third with the English raiders not troubling the scorer.

The Moyglare was a good win for Fallen Angel 9/2 who got the better of Vespertilia and our pick Porta Fortuna dead-heated for third with Ornellaia 17/2.

City of Troy was scratched from the Vincent O'Brien due to "Unsuitable Ground" so that left the way clear for stablemate Henry Longfellow to take over the race and give trainer Aiden O'Brien his 4000th winner.  Islandsinthestream 12/1 was second with Bucanero Fuerte third.

The Irish St Leger saw Eldar Eldarov overturn favourite Kyprios with Dawn Rising 7/2 third.
