Both races were won by horses breaking well and going to the front and staying there.  Ceiling Crusher's jockey Edwin Maldonado did just that in the Cotillion and while favourite Pretty Mischievous tried hard to catch him it was a case of too little too late as the winner won by ½ length. Third home was Occult.

The Pennsylvania Derby saw another well-judged front run this time from Florent Geroux on the Brad Cox trained Saudi Crown who looks set to travel to his owners' homeland next year for the Saudi Cup.  Dreamlike ran second trying to close the gap but the post came too soon.

Il Miracolo 25/1 was 6 lengths back in third.
