There is so much to write about that we are slicing this gateau into three pieces starting off with Saturday.
The going is still showing as "soft" but we expect that this will move to good if not before the start of racing certainly during the afternoon as the weather will be warm.
This has 3 Group 2 races and two Group 1 so we are starting off with the Prix Chaudenay G2 for 3yos over 3000m with 9 runners. Prices on all races are UK prices as we can't find any French ones so far and as they are UK prices they have Harbour Wind on top at 2/1 for Dermot Weld and Chris Hayes. The French like Gallerist and he mays tart favourite there but in the UK is on 7/2 for Francis Graffard and Mickael Barzalona. We like one at slightly better odds – Sevenna's Knight on 7/1 for Andre Fabre and Murzabayev.
The Prix Cadran is over 4000m for horses 4 years and over but has only 6 runners so it looks very likely to go to Trueshan who is returning to her best form and has Hollie Doyle on top as usual, but Emily Dickinson 3/2 was taken out of the Arc to run in this – Franke Dettori is riding for Aidan O'Brien this time.
The Prix de Royalieu is G1 for 3yo fillies over 2800m with a field of 14. It's a very open race with Weld's Shamida on 5/1 current favourite – Hayes riding. The locals chip in with Ottery 13/2 for Fabre-Murzabayev and on the same quote Sea Silk Road for Haggas-Lemaitre. We liked the last run of Sumo Sam and the 17/2 is tempting – Jamie Spencer rides for the Coles.
The Prix Wildenstein G2 over 1600m has 10 runners with Isaac Shelby on 10/3 for Meehan-Levey. Belbek is 5/1 for Fabre-Murzabeyev and Poker Face the same quote – Crisfords and Guyon. We like the other Fabre runner Mr Moliere who could be value on 17/2 with Barzalona riding.
The Prix Dollar is G2 over 2000m with 9 runners. Horizon Dore looks a worthy favourite here on 11/8 for Patrice Cottier and Barzalona. Rouget trains the Aga Khan's Erevann who is on 9/2 with Demuro on board and we have a roughier here in Ancient Rome 12/1 for Hills-Spencer.
