The American Weekend

3 minute read

There was a bit of moving fixtures around when Saturday's Belmont at the Big A had to be moved to Sunday.

The Joe Hirsch has still to be run – it got moved to next Saturday – but otherwise the card went ahead and the winner of the Vosburgh was the wonderful Cody's Wish, who earned a trip to the Breeders and may aim at defending his Dirt Mile title.  Accretive was second but the winner was all class.

The Gallant Bloom saw a double disqualification as the first two over the line – Sterling Silver and Headland – were adjudged to have interfered with Caramel Swirl who was third over the line but got promoted to first with the other two put down a place.

The Woodward saw Zandon win through without any problems.

At Santa Anita there was no problem with the weather and we were very happy when Slow Down Andy won the Awesome Again as we had not let Defunded defund us further and he had to settle for second.  Senor Buscador fended off National Treasure to finish third.

The Eddie Read saw Lane Way get the better of Bran for the 1-2 with Noble Reflection 15/1 third.

The City of Hope was no problem for Hong Kong Harry who continued his good run of form by winning from Astronomer 8/1 and Twist.
