Belmont at the Big A and Santa Anita
The Belmont at the Big A continues this weekend hopefully with the cooperation of the weather gods.
On Saturday we have the Joe Hirsch which got moved here from last weekend after the Saturday meeting was cancelled. It's Gr 1 over 2400m and on top of the market we have the Godolphin Appleby-Buick Rebel's Romance on 9/5. We imagine the horse has stayed on at Belmont and thus had more time to acclimatise and should be ready to go. War Like Goddess is on 5/2 for Mott-Alvarado and Soldier Rising has had a jockey change so D Davis will now ride the Clement pupil.
The Frizette is Gr 1 for the 2yo fillies over 1600m and has 6 runners. Life Talk is with Pletcher and Irad Ortiz will ride the daughter of Gun Runner on 9/5. Emery is a dual accepter as she's entered in the Alcibiades in Keeneland on Friday. Should she run here she's on 2/1 and if she doesn't Just FYI, a daughter of Justify who is with Bill Mott, is on 3/1.
The Belmont Turf Sprint is over 1200m with 12 starters and here Clement's Big Invasion is on 5/2 with Irad Ortiz booked for the ride. Thin White Duke is on 5/1 and Wit 6/1.
The Champagne is Gr 1 over 1600m for the 2yos with 8 runners. Pletcher's City of Light colt Fierceness is on 6/5 with I Ortiz on board. Timberlake, by Into Mischief, is on 3/1 for Cox-Geroux and General Partner is by Speightstown and on 7/2 for Brown-Franco.
The Jockey Club Derby Invitational is over 2200m on turf and is for 3yos with 9 going to post. Godolphin Appleby-Buick is back here with Measured Time who heads the call on 2/1. Webslinger Casse-Castellano is on 7/2 and Anglophile 5/1 for Lynch-Cannon.
At Santa Anita the Rodeo Drive is Gr 1 over 2000m turf for f&m over the downhill course.
The Argentinian bred Didia is on 9/5 for Correas-Cheminaud with Anisette (another favourite tipple) on 2/1 for Powell-Rispoli and 4/1 Closing Remarks for C Gaines- J Hernandez.
The American Pharoah is Gr 1 over 1700m for 2yos and Baffert's Muth is at evens. Next Level is on 4/1 for the Desormeaux brothers and Be You also on that quote for Pletcher-Rispoli.
