Big weekend in Kyoto

3 minute read

There's the G2 Daily Hai Nisai on Saturday and the Queen Elizabeth II Cup on Sunday.

The G2 is for the 2yos (nisai in Japanese means 2yo) and is over 1600m so anything can win.

Jockceys Ryan Moore, Tom Marqand and Hollie Doyle are back riding in Japan on short-term licences and the guys have rides in this.

Tom is on Cantiamo, by Epiphaneia on 3.7 and Ryan on Fleuraison, by Orfevre, on 5.6.  Between them in the market is Namura Ahabi by Real Steel on 4.5.

It's the 48th QEII Cup and is back to its original home of Kyoto this year.  Current favourite is Brede Weg, a 3yo coming through the grades well having run second in the Rose (where the winner broke the record) and is the mount of Christophe Lemaire.  They are on 2.7.

One of our favourite horses Geraldina is on 4.3 and will have Ryan Moore riding.  We also like Harper on 11.3, Rouge Eveil 12.9 and Saliera who will be ridden by Tom Marqaund on 10.0.

Other news this week has been that Equinox remains top of the Longines best horses ratings on a mark of 129.  Ace Impact was on 128.
