Internationals on show at Meydan

3 minute read

This Friday's card will give an opportunity to many of the international brigade to stretch their legs on either the dirt or turf of Meydan.

While there are no Group races on the card there are two races in particular that are interesting = the Al Wasl Stakes over 1200m and the Lord North Handicap over 1800m, both on the turf track.

The Al Wasl has Godolphin's Star of Mystery on 5/2 – he's by Kodiac and with the Appleby team and therefore William Buick to ride.  Some reports have Starlust on 3/2 but as this is the son of Zoustar's first run in Dubai we prefer to give him time to acclimatise although you could put him in the multiples.  We also like Seven Questions, another Kodiac colt, who had done quite well on some of the lesser tracks in the UK and then ran third in the Criterium Maisons-Lafitte G2 at Chantilly.  Another roughie is Zoulon Chief, another Zoustar, on 12/1.

The Lord North again has the Godolphin due of Appleby-Buick on top with Highbank on 11/4.  From the bin Suroor side Military March is on 4/1 with C Demuro riding and an interesting runner in Hypothetical where the trainer admits the horse is running as a prep for his defence of the Maktoum Challenge Round 3 (G1) but he ran well on turf when in the UK and we think 28/1 is irresistible.
