Fashion Friday in Dubai

3 minute read

At Meydan there will be 7 Group races and 1 listed for a glamour card.

Starting off with the Firebreak G3 over 1600m on the dirt track, the locals hold sway here with Bhupat Seemar saddling the top two in the market – Western Symphony on 11/4 an Royal Mews on 9/4.  Hypothetical is on 5/1 for Bin Ghaayer and Dough Watson sends out Thegreatcollelction on 11/2.

The Al Fahidi Fort is G2 over 1400m on turf with 10 to run.  Godolphin (Appleby-Buick) have Mysterious Night on 3/2 with Danyah on 4/1 for Al Mheiri-Crowley and Marbaan for Michael Costa and Tom Marquand on 5/1.

The Al Shindagha Sprint is G3 on dirt with 9 runners headed by Laurel River for Seemar-O'Shea.  Mouheeb is on. 7/2 for Costa-Marquand and Colour Up 5/1 Wason-Dobbs.

The Blue Point Sprint is over 1000m on turf and another Godolphin Star of Mystery (Appleby-Barzalona) is on 3/1 with Clarendon House on 9/2 and there are two on 5/1 who could hold the key to this ace – Equality from Charlie Hills yard with William Buick riding and Ponntos who has been doing well since coming to Dubai.

The Al Maktoum Challenge is over 1800m on the dirt and is G1.  12 going to post.  Doug Watson's Kabirkhan is on 3/2 with Pat Dobbs riding and Clapton 7/4 for Summers-Fresu.

South America is represented by Atletico El Culano on 17/2 and we have a roughie here in Mimi Kakushi on 40/1.

The Jebel Hatta G1 is over 1800m on the turf and Measured Time is an interesting horse from Godolphin (Appleby-Buick) as he seems to have loads of talent but is somewhat wayward.  Nevertheless he's on 3/2 with Mawj from the other Goolphin stable on 2/1.  San Donato has won at G2 level so this is up in both distance and class.  Doug Watson and Pat Dobbs are his team and he's on 6/1.

The 2000 Guineas G3 over 1600m for the young lads sees the appearance of a couple of useful South American contenders – Oasis Boy 3/1 who is considered a horse with champion written into his agenda and Quartier, who impressed on his last start at Meydan and is on 11/2, both being with Julio Oloscoaga.  Oloscoaga was formerly the assistant trainer to Antonio Cintra but since the latter is suspended in Uruguay the trainership has been transferred to Oloscoaga.  Turjman is with Aussie trainer now based in Jebel Ali Michael Costa and Tom Marquand will ride.
