They may have missed the snow but the rain had been able to turn the track into a mud bath.

However it was good to see the wonderful Shishkin on his best behaviour and able to hang on to his jockey Nico de Boinville or was it the other way round to show some clean jumping and win on ground that he obviously detested.  We love him dearly as we once had a horse with a similar name and think he could cherry ripe by Cheltenham.  That was in the Denman which probably had the smallest field ever.

The Game Sprint went to Edwardstone and after Boothill fell Fuamble Sivola was the only other horse standing so he got the second money.
