It was always going to be tricky for Russian Emperor to repeat his win of last year.

There are more good and very good horses coming to Qatar each year for this entertaining festival, and now the Japanese are coming as well as the Europeans.

Godolphin's Rebel Romance under Will Buick managed to get in front ahead of a trio of Japanese runners – Zeffiro, Satono Glanz and North Bridge.  Russian Emperor was 5th which gave him a nice prize to take home and the run was fine.

Earlier the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cup proved Luke Morris's trip to Doha for just this ride to be worthwhile as they won from the progressive Cairo and Godolphin bin Suroor's Real World in third.

The Dukhan Sprint saw Saffie Osborne repeat her winning form this time on Emiraaty Ana with Monsieur Noir second and Mischief Magic third.

The Al Rayyah Mile (Local G2) went to Odyssey from Orne and Soldiers Gold.
