Meydan Friday with preps for World Cup meeting

3 minute read

There are some very interesting horses running on Friday.

The UAE Oaks is G3 and there are two good horses running and four hopefuls.  The two goo ones are Manama Gold trained by Fawzi Nass and de Vries riding and they are 1/7.  Normally we avoid the odds-on runners but in a small field she has a very very good chance.  On paper her only rival is Doug Watson's Mizzyaan on 4/1.

The Balanchine is G2 over 1800m with 7 runners and it looks like another night for Godolphin with Sapphire Seas on 8/15 and the choice of William Buick.  While she looks very talented this is first up for a bit and we liked the run of the stablemate English Rose last time and Barzalona rides her with a quote of 9/4 available.  We also like Stenton Glider on 10/1 and she has been coming through the grades nicely.

The Singspiel G2, a prep for the Dubai Turf is the top race of the evening again with Appleby sending in a trio of runners headed by Ottoman Fleet on 7/4 and Naval Power on 7/2.  His Highland Avenue has been a bit disappointing to date and is on 33/1.  We think Sean from the successful Osborne yard  on 17/2 is value with deVries riding this time as Saffie is riding in the jockeys' challenge in Riyadd,

The Nad Al Sheba Trophy is G3 and here Siskany is going to defend the title he won last year.  New London hasn't been all that convincing so we will go for Francis Graffard's Gallerist.  This is over 2810m and is a prep for the Dubai Gold Cup.
