Manama Gold and other excitements at Meydan on Friday

3 minute read

The Fawzi Nass trained Manama Gold justified her very short price in the UAE Oaks.

Under Adrie de Vries who managed to settle her and judge when to go she was tackled in the closing stages by Mizzyaan but she still had petrol in the tank and got her win which has kept her unbeaten record intact.  Will be interesting to see if Manama Gold goes to America.

The Balanchine G2 saw Godolphin take out the quinellla as English Rose, with a run under her girth, won by 2 ½ lengths from Sapphire Seas.  Nibros Angel 33/1 was 3 lengths further back in third place.

The Al Bastikiya provide a thrilling battle between the eventual winner Killer Collect and Auto Bahn down the last 400 metres of the track.. A commendable performance from both horses.  A  Fawzi Nass runner was in the money again when Tactical Bound 14/1 was third.

This was the second leg of the Triple Crown and should be a lead in to the Derby.

Then Siskany chalked up win #10 and a unique defence of his title in the Nad Al Sheba Trophy.  Sea Stone 50/1 was second and the winner's stablemate New London took third.

The Singspiel was another Godolphin win but not the one expected.  This time it was Naval Power who took the top prize from San Donato 15/2 and arguably unlucky runner Sean was third.
