The race is over 1400m and has attracted a top field.

Lucky Sweynesse has got nothing to prove and he's beaten California Spangle before but can he do it again?  It's over 1400m where his main strength is over 1200m but he's been working well and he is a champion but 1.6?  J Mac is flying up for the ride.  California Spangle lost a lot of his spangles in the latter part of last year but his most recent outing showed signs of renewed enthusiasm for racing. He's on 12.0 and will be good value at that price.  Brenton Avdulla has the ride this time.

Beauty Eternal has been waiting in the wings for a big race win and the Size-Purton combo is always worth a serious look.  6.5 is about right.

There is a get-out in the South Wall Handicap Class 2 over 1800m with the Cruz pair of Five G Patch and The Best Peach heading the call on 5.3 and 6.2 in what is a very open race.  Bowman and Teetan the respective jockeys.  Also Alacrity has been in our little black book and comes into this on 8.4 with Richards legging up Zac Purton.
