California Spangle turned back the clock to his winning ways.

Given a top ride by Brenton Avdulla, who got his first G1 in Hong Kong in the process, he managed to deny the opposition any chance of beating him.  It was Galaxy Patch who emerged from the pack to go second and win a trip to Dubai – where the winner will also go and Avdulla will keep the ride.  Unfortunately for us we didn't back Red Lion this time thinking it might be a bit tough for him but he came through and took third.  Beauty Eternal was fourth and favourite Lucky Sweynesse fifth.

The get-out South Wall Handicap fortunately as we had not picked either of the first two – Happy Together and Champion Dragon who were involved in a very tight finish.  Five G Patch was third.
